Post and phone scams – be alert

Look out for the warning signs and avoid being a victim.  Do you or does someone you know:

  • Receive a lot of mail asking to send money, place an order, or to pay taxes, shipping or other administration fees in advance
  • Have a large number of worthless ‘gifts’, ‘prizes’ or ‘lucky charms’
  • Have unusual or unexplained payments or transfers made from your/their bank account
  • Receive cash or counterfeit cheques
  • Receive money from people you don’t know
  • Frequently send money via money or bank transfer
  • Write out a large number of cheques for small amounts in response to prize draw or sweepstake mailings
  • Buy stamps on a regular basis
  • Receive many unwanted phone calls from people you don’t know, who ask for bank details or personal information, or who rush you and force you into making decisions quickly

If you have answered yes to some of these then please call us on 03454 04 05 06 for advice.

We attach:  a cheque book sticker

Peel away the sticker and place it in a prominent place on your cheque book so you can see it every time you write a cheque.

We attach:  a phone sticker

Place this sticker on the handset of your telephone to remind you not to talk to people who call you that you don’t know.
